We all know money doesn’t go on trees. But for some it grows in the form of cocoa beans. As I was reading this month’s edition of Forbes, I came across an article about chocolate entrepreneur Jacques Torres. This guy started working in pastries at the age of 20 and soon realized that chocolate had huge potential to make him rich. In 2000, he began to make his chocolate flavored dreams a reality as he and his close friends used their savings to open up a chocolate wholesale factory in BROOKLYN. What sets him apart from the rest of the chocolate world is his creativity and the passion for the chocolate.
“In November 2004 Torres leased 8,000 square feet of industrial space, at $19,000 a month, in the chic SoHo district to build his own bean-to-bar operation. The concept: a 2,200-square-foot retail store, shaped like a cacao pod, enclosed in glass and surrounded by a working factory where customers and pedestrians can watch Torres’ real-life Oompa Loompas fumigate, roast, shell and grind the beans; smooth (or “conch”) the chocolate into its recognizable texture; and finally, cast it into purses, rabbits, cell phones and monkeys.”
MuffinMilk would like to congratulate to Mr.Torres for his accomplishments and creative thinking. Support Entrepreneurship!!!
